The art of Tuscan cooking


At almost one hundred years old, Eugenia, Barbara, and Stefano's paternal grandmother, has the wisdom of a sage. While teaching the classes, Eugenia often repeats her mantra: "To cook, you need patience, love, joy, and a pinch of madness; with your hands, a knife, and fork, you can prepare delicious meals". This is precisely the kind of lesson that Barbara and Stefano wish to share with their guests.

Cooking classes are prepared and directed by Barbara and mamma Ornella in the lovely restaurant Locanda della Luna, at Villa Rosa dei Venti. They only use fresh, seasonal ingredients grown on the grounds and nearby farms.

The lesson lasts 3 hours and is followed by lunch or dinner using the dishes prepared and served with wines from the estate. There will be snacks to entertain our guests during the class while they are working at the stove or making pasta and cakes.

Guests can also learn to prepare “Holiday lunches”, from appetizers to dessert, including handmade pasta, meat dishes, and vegetable side dishes. A key ingredient will always be the extra virgin olive oil produced on the farm and shipped worldwide.

All the recipes we use in the class are present in Barbara's cookbook "Tuscan Memories in the kitchen". The book is a delight to browse and offers the reader a descriptive journey through the flavors of Tuscany and the deep bond that binds the Micheli family to this land. During the class, we tell stories and anecdotes related to daily life in Tuscany and our family history. It's a fun way to spend a day.
